Pedestrians Struck in Seattle’s University District

By Hardwick & Pendergast, P.S. on March 5, 2013

Two teenagers were injured in a Seattle car accident when a car struck them near an intersection. According to a news report in The Seattle Times, the pedestrian accident occurred near Brooklyn Avenue Northeast and Northeast Campus Parkway in Seattle’s University District. Investigators are still trying to figure out what caused this collision. One of the two women suffered a serious head injury and the other has been listed in stable condition.

According to the Washington Department of Transportation, pedestrians accounted for 12.1 percent of all traffic deaths and 11.2 percent of all serious injuries between the years 2006 and 2010. If you have suffered an injury in a Washington pedestrian accident, there are a number of steps you can take to protect your rights.

  • Contact the authorities and get your account of the incident into the police report.
  • Write down the contact information for any witnesses who saw what happened.
  • Take photos of the crash site, the vehicles involved, and of the injuries you have suffered.
  • Write down specific details regarding what you were doing, where you were, and exactly when the crash occurred.
  • Seek immediate medical attention to receive treatment and to document your injuries.
  • Contact a skilled Seattle pedestrian injury lawyer to protect your legal rights.

There are a number of reasons why it is advisable to speak with a reputed attorney. A skilled injury lawyer can help you hold the at-fault driver accountable for the losses you have suffered. A successful injury claim can result in financial compensation for the victim’s medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering, and other related damages. It is common for drivers to deny responsibility and for insurance providers to offer settlements that do not fully cover the damages suffered in the crash. So, victims would be well advised to get an experienced attorney on their side who will fight for their rights and protect their best interests.
