Washington Drunk Driving Stats Drivers who are under the influence of drugs or alcohol are much more likely to cause an accident. Drunk drivers show delayed reactions, impaired skills, difficulties focusing, and a proclivity for making poor decisions. Washington State has strict laws in place to deter drunk drivers, and the number of driving under the influence (DUI) accidents has decreased in recent years.

According to the Washington Traffic Safety Commission, the number of DUI fatalities in Washington has decreased from 301 in the year 2006 to 230 in 2010. The number of serious injuries suffered in Washington DUI accidents has decreased in recent years as well.
