Motorcyclist Injured in Seattle Multi-Car Collision

A motorcyclist suffered a serious leg injury in a recent Seattle crash after being ejected from his vehicle. According to The Seattle Times, the car accident occurred on the northbound I-5 near Northeast 145th Street in Seattle. Officials say a white vehicle hit a tan vehicle, which then struck the motorcyclist. The motorcycle rider suffered a severe leg injury and two others suffered minor injuries. It is unclear which driver was responsible for the crash or if anyone will be cited for the collision.

According to the Washington Traffic Safety Commission:

  • A total of 69 motorcyclists were killed in Washington accidents in the year 2010.
  • Speed was a contributing factor in 35 of those motorcyclist fatalities and 32 motorcyclists were killed in DUI collisions.
  • During that same year, an average of 3.07 motorcyclists were killed for every 10,000 registered motorcycles.
  • The most common time of day for fatal accidents is during rush hour traffic between 3 p.m. and 5:59 p.m. Read the rest »
