Woman and Child Injured in Street Racing Accident

A high-speed street race may have been to blame for a crash that resulted in serious injuries to a 26-year-old woman and minor injuries to her four-year-old son. According to The Yakima Herald Republic, the crash occurred near the Burger King on West Nob Hill Boulevard in Yakima. Officials say the victim was pulling out of a parking lot in her Toyota Corolla when a westbound Jeep Grand Cherokee slammed into her car.

She suffered severe internal injuries and her son suffered superficial glass cuts. The 23-year-old driver of the Jeep, who was traveling more than 65 miles per hour, was arrested at the scene and the 18-year-old driver of the car he was racing was tracked down as well.
