149 Car Crashes Reported in Spokane after Snowfall

Over a snowy two-day period, 149 vehicles crashed in Spokane County. According to a NWPR news report, there were 116 wrecks on January 7 in Spokane County when half a foot of snow fell, and another 33 accidents by mid afternoon on January 8. Officials say that many of these dangerous roadway crashes involved drivers who were traveling too fast for the roadway conditions. The posted speed limits are for optimal roadway conditions and not for roads that are covered in snow, water, or ice. In the article, a Spokane police officer recommended driving no faster than 30 mph on roads where the limit is 50 mph.
