Motorcycle Passenger Killed in Skagit during Collision with Car

A 55-year-old Sedro-Woolley woman was killed in a Washington accident when a car struck the motorcycle on which she was a passenger. According to a news report in The Seattle Times, the fatal motorcycle accident occurred on Cook Road just outside Sedro-Woolley in Skagit. Officials say the motorcycle was stopped to turn left when a 2001 Honda Accord failed to stop and crashed into it. The motorcyclist was treated at the hospital with unknown injuries and the female passenger was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. The 76-year-old driver responsible for the crash was booked on suspicion of vehicular homicide and vehicular assault.

Under Washington Statute 46.61.520, “A driver is guilty of vehicular homicide if the driver was operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, while driving in a reckless manner or when driving with disregard for the safety of others.” Individuals arrested on suspicion of vehicular homicide can face life-changing penalties.
