Winter in Washington brings rain, sleet, snow, and ice – all factors that can make driving more dangerous. Whether you’re heading out for holiday shopping, going to a party, or just making your everyday commute, you can take steps to make winter driving safer for you and your passengers. Here are four tips for safer winter driving in Washington, courtesy of the Washington State Patrol:
- Check your car. Make sure tires are properly inflated and have enough tread in roder to handle dangerous winter roads. Check antifreeze and washer fluid levels frequently. Examine hoses and belts for wear and replace them if needed.
- Pack an emergency kit. First aid supplies, a shovel, a flashlight, a snow scraper, and extra warm clothing and blankets can all be helpful or even life-saving in case of an accident. Consider packing these items into an emergency kit kept in your vehicle for winter driving. Read the rest »
