Car Accidents Claim More Lives Than Other Workplace Injuries
Car accidents are far too common in the U.S., but many people don’t associate them with workplace accidents. Yet car accidents during work claim the lives of more U.S. workers each year than any other work-related activity, according to a report from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).
The category “highway accidents” includes not only car crashes, but also pedestrian accidents, accidents involving construction workers or other workers who are on or near a road, and accidents that occur in parking lots. Twenty percent of U.S. workers who died in workplace accidents in 2009 were the victims of highway accidents. Read the rest »
