10 Injured in Seattle Crash

By Hardwick & Pendergast, P.S. on November 3, 2014

A white pickup truck barreled down Rainier Avenue South in Seattle striking 15 vehicles and injuring 10 people. According to a King 5 news report, the car accidents occurred along three blocks of Rainier Avenue South between South Henderson Street and Seward Avenue Park South in Seattle Halloween night. Officials say nine of the 15 cars struck by the white pickup were occupied including a truck that contained five people. The driver of that truck was critically injured and two child occupants sustained serious injuries. The driver of a red vehicle was also critically injured and another driver suffered serious injuries. In total, 10 people were hurt and six were taken to Harborview Medical Center.

It is unclear if the male driver responsible for the crash was under the influence of drugs or alcohol, but an investigation is underway. The older man was pulled from his pickup and arrested. He claims to have hit the accelerator instead of the brakes. There was no other explanation provided.

In the event of a serious injury accident, it must be determined who was responsible and how the accident could have been prevented. In some multi-vehicle accidents, there are multiple drivers that share responsibility and resulting in complicated liability disputes. In other crashes, it is clear that one driver was responsible for the collisions.

Multi-vehicle collisions often result in multiple claims for compensation. The at-fault driver’s insurance provider may deny responsibility for the crash or they may offer inadequate settlements to make the case go away. That is why all injured victims would be well advised to evaluate their legal rights and options before making any decisions. If you or a loved one has been injured in an accident, please contact an experienced Seattle pickup truck accident attorney to obtain more information about pursuing your legal rights.
